Locating Dependencies: Seeing Where a Group is Being Used (Flows, Campaigns)

This guide shows how to check where a contact group is referenced across your workspace (flows, campaigns, broadcasts, and other logic). Reviewing usages helps you understand the impact before editing or deleting a group.

Quick Setup Checklist

Use this checklist to quickly find where a group is referenced before you edit or delete it.

  1. Open Contacts and locate the group
  2. Open the group menu (☰)
  3. Select Usages to view dependencies
  4. Review the usage list (flows, campaigns, broadcasts)
  5. Troubleshoot common issues

1

Open the Contacts Section

Navigate to the Contacts tab in the main navigation to access the group directory.

[CAPTURE: Contacts page showing the group directory visible on the left side, listing several contact groups.]

2

Open the Group Menu

[CAPTURE: Group list with the ☰ menu icon expanded for a specific group.]

3

From the group menu, select Usages to open the group usage view.

[CAPTURE: Group menu with the Usages option visible or selected.]

4

Review Dependencies in the Usage View

The usage view shows where the group is currently referenced across your workspace, such as:

  • Flows
  • Campaigns
  • Broadcasts
  • Other automation logic

Use this list to understand what will be affected if the group is changed or deleted.

5

Decide Safely Before Editing or Deleting

If a group is referenced in an active flow or campaign, changing or deleting it may affect operations.

  • Deleting the group may cause errors.
  • Campaigns may stop sending messages if they rely on the group.
  • Flow logic may no longer work as intended if conditions or actions reference the group.

Always check Usages before deleting a group or changing how it is populated.

Common Issues

I don’t see any usages listed

Explanation: The group is not currently referenced anywhere.

Result: You can edit or delete the group without impacting flows, campaigns, or broadcasts.

A flow stopped working after deleting a group

Cause: The deleted group was referenced in flow logic.

Fix: Edit the affected flow and remove or replace the group reference, then save and republish the flow.

I don’t see the Usages option

Possible cause: The group menu was not opened.

Fix: Click the (☰) menu icon next to the group name, then look for Usages.
