Start a welcome flow on first conversation in a few steps
If you just need the essentials, follow this:
- Confirm your workspace has a Facebook Messenger or Telegram channel connected
- Go to Triggers and click + New Trigger
- Select Start a flow when a conversation is started by a contact
- Choose the channel (page/bot) and the flow to start
- Save and test by starting a new conversation with your page/bot
You’re done. New conversations on your Messenger page or Telegram bot can now automatically launch your onboarding flow.

Common Issues & Quick Fixes
Problem: I don’t see the “conversation started” trigger type.
Fix: Confirm your workspace has a Facebook Messenger or Telegram channel connected—this trigger type only appears for those channels.
Problem: New contacts don’t start the onboarding flow.
Fix: Review include/exclude group filters. If you included a group, ensure new contacts are added to that group elsewhere before the trigger is expected to apply.
Problem: The trigger doesn’t fire on the right page/bot.
Fix: Confirm the trigger is configured for the correct channel (the specific Messenger page or Telegram bot) and test by starting a brand-new conversation from that channel.
