Editing the Campaign: Changing the Name or Target Group

You can edit a campaign to update its basic properties—mainly the campaign name and the single contact group it targets. These changes apply going forward: existing campaign events remain configured, but switching the group changes which contacts are eligible to receive future campaign events.

Quick setup checklist

Use these steps to edit a campaign safely without disrupting your existing event configuration.

  1. Open the Campaigns section and select a campaign
  2. Open the campaign edit options
  3. Update the campaign name and/or target group
  4. Save changes and verify the updates
  5. Troubleshoot common issues
1
Open the Campaigns section

Click the Campaigns tab in the top navigation, then locate and select the campaign you want to edit.

  • Navigate to Campaigns
  • Show: Campaigns list
  • Show: One campaign clearly selected or highlighted
  • Keep: Page title visible
  • Blur: Sensitive campaign names if needed

Before you begin

  • The campaign already exists
  • You understand that changing the group may affect which contacts receive future events

Important: Editing a campaign does not delete or reset existing campaign events, but changing the group may change which contacts are eligible for those events.

2
Open campaign edit options

In the campaign view, click the menu icon () in the upper-right corner, then select Edit.

What changes (and what doesn’t)

  • Campaign name updates immediately.
  • Target group changes which contacts are eligible for all future event executions.
  • Existing events stay configured (timing/actions), but run against the updated group.
4
Save and verify the changes

After saving, confirm the updated campaign name and/or group are visible in the campaign view.

Common issues

I can’t change the campaign group

Possible cause: The campaign is archived.

Fix: Reactivate the campaign before editing.

Changing the group caused events to stop sending

Explanation: Contacts in the new group may not meet campaign requirements (for example, missing Date & Time contact fields referenced by events).

Fix: Verify contacts in the selected group have the required Date & Time contact fields populated.

I want to change campaign timing or actions

Explanation: Campaign details and campaign events are edited separately.

Fix: Edit the campaign event (not the campaign) to change timing, action type, or flow/message selection.
