Locating Dependencies: Seeing Where a Group is Used (Flows, Campaigns)

The group usage view shows where a contact group is referenced across your workspace (flows, campaigns, broadcasts, and other logic). Checking this view helps you understand the impact of editing or deleting a group and is a best practice before making changes that could break automations.

Quick Setup Checklist

Use this checklist to identify where a group is referenced before you edit or delete it.

  1. Confirm what the usage view is for
  2. Open the Contacts section
  3. Open the group menu
  4. Open the Usages view
  5. Interpret what you see
  6. Troubleshoot common issues
1
Before You Begin

Before checking group usage:

  • The group must already exist
  • You must have access to the Contacts section
Important: Groups are often used as targeting or logic elements. Changes to a group may affect flows, campaigns, and broadcasts.
2
Open the Contacts Section

Navigate to the Contacts tab in the main navigation.

5
Understand the Usage View

The usage view displays where the group is currently referenced, such as:

  • Flows
  • Campaigns
  • Broadcasts
  • Other automation logic

This allows you to quickly identify what will be affected if the group is edited or deleted.

Tip: Always check Usages before deleting a group or changing how it is populated.
Important: If a group is used in an active flow or campaign, deleting it may cause errors, campaigns may stop sending, and flow logic may no longer work as intended.
