Quick setup checklist
Use this when you need to message beyond the 24-hour window on Facebook Messenger:
Step-by-Step Process
Facebook Messenger restricts messages sent more than 24 hours after a contact’s last interaction. To send compliant
broadcasts and scheduled messages outside that window, attach a Facebook Opt-in topic to the message.
- Go to Messages.
- Open Broadcasts.
- Click Send.
- Select the contacts or groups you want to message.
[CAPTURE: Broadcast recipient selection screen.]
- Choose the message language.
- Enter your message text.
- Under the message box, locate the Facebook icon used to attach an Opt-in topic.
[CAPTURE: Message composer showing the Facebook Opt-in icon.]
- Click the Facebook icon.
- Select the Opt-in topic you want to use from the dropdown.
[CAPTURE: Facebook Opt-in dropdown with topics listed.]
- Choose Send now or Send later.
- If scheduling, select the date and time.
- Confirm and send.

Once sent, the message will be delivered to all contacts who opted in to that topic, regardless of when they last
messaged you.
Common Issues & Quick Fixes
Problem: My message didn’t send to all contacts.
Fix: Some contacts may not have opted in to the selected topic. Confirm contacts accepted the Opt-in before broadcasting.
Problem: I don’t see any Opt-ins in the dropdown.
Fix: Create Opt-in topics via flows first, then confirm a Facebook Messenger channel is connected and enabled in your workspace.
Problem: Do Opt-ins work on non-Facebook channels?
Answer: No. Facebook Opt-ins apply only to Facebook Messenger. Other channels follow different messaging rules.
